Knives seized by 40
police forces have been made into a giant angel sculpture that creators want to
put on display in Trafalgar Square
More than 100,000 knives have been handed in to police forces since
amnesty scheme started two years ago
Sussex Police are latest to contribute to huge 'Knife Angel' being
constructed at the British Ironwork Centre
Only South Yorkshire Police are left to offer their contribution to the
sculpture, made by sculptor Alfie Bradley
Owner of ironworks wants it to be displayed in Trafalgar Square as a
national tribute to victims of knife crime
This huge angel made from thousands of blades surrendered
under a police amnesty scheme may soon serve as a poignant tribute to the
victims of knife crime.
Sussex Police this week became the latest of more than 40
forces across Britain to offer its support for the so-called Knife Angel -
created by the Shropshire-based British Ironwork Centre.
It's made using some of around 100,000 knives that have been
taken off the streets in England and Wales during the project, set up two years
ago with the backing of the Home Office.
Amazing.
